Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) strikes more than 350,000 Americans each year — nearly one death every two minutes. Giving CPR and using an automated external defibrillator (AED) early nearly doubles the chance of survival. For each minute without such treatment, the chance of survival decreases 7–10 percent.
The Iowa Heart Center Foundation program awards AEDs to Iowa non-profit organizations in an effort to increase survival rates for people who experience SCA.
Priority for placement will be awarded based upon the demonstrated financial need, population and number served, and proposed impact of the scope of placement.
If your organization is in need of and could benefit from an AED, please fill out the application below or complete and send this PDF. All applicants must include a tax ID number and financials or budgetary information, which may assist in determining financial need.
Applications will be reviewed quarterly. The next review will take place in June 2022.
