Alpha Phi Foundation advances women’s lives through the power of philanthropy. Since 1946, Alpha Phi has had heart health as an international philanthropic focus. The Foundation commemorates each installation of a new Zeta Delta Chapter with a $1,000 gift to a local non-profit organization of the chapter’s choice. Iowa State University’s Zeta Delta chapter has selected the Iowa Heart Foundation to receive this gift. Denise Sorrentino, MD, an Iowa Heart Center Electrophysiologist and Iowa Heart Center Foundation board member and Julie Younger, Iowa Heart Foundation board president, accepted the donation at an awards banquet in Ames.
The mission of the Iowa Heart Foundation is to promote cardiovascular health in our communities through increasing awareness, providing access to information and assisting those in need. The Foundation initiatives are carried out in the following areas: charitable healthcare services, professional education and community service.
